To the history of kinship terminology study in the Komi Permyak language

The article is deals with the issue of degree of knowledge of the terms denoting kinship in the Komi Permyak language. The author, having studied various written sources available in the Komi language (Komi-Permyak and Komi-Zyryan), emphasizes scholars’ interest in this group of terms. Two main areas of research are identified and considered in Komi linguistics: lexicological and lexicographic. In the article different types of analysis are used – functional, semantic, etymological, and others – to prove the urgent need for a detailed analysis of the kinship terms functioning in the contemporary Komi-Permyak language, as well as their functioning in the past.
