Towards the history of the healthcare institutions in the far eastern outskirts of the Russian empire, late XVIIIth - mid-XIXth century

The article attempts to illuminate the ill-studied aspects of the history of healthcare in the Russian territories on the Northeastern coast of the Pacific Ocean. The author emphasizes the role of military doctors in the establishment of healthcare system in the region. It is noted that the establishment of public medical institutions such as Irkutsk Department of Public Charity and Irkutsk Medical Board greatly contributed to the fact that the remote populations of the Russian Empire was provided with professional medical care, however, the author concludes, the healthcare system in the period under review has not yet received a final organizational design.
