To the history of Tibetan medicine: main stages of its formation and development

The article, basing on former unknown information from Tibetan medical works, analyzes the main stages of the history of formation and development of Tibetan medicine (7th -17th centuries). The main attention is given to the characteristics of the history of the early period. Fundamentally new is the division of the history of Tibetan medicine into the mythological period, the periods of early, developed and late Middle Ages. The authors conclude that each of these periods has its own characteristic features in the development of medical knowledge in Tibet.
