The article highlights the activities of the frontline correspondent for the Red Army newspaper “Heroic Red Army” during the battles on the Khalkhin Gol River, who later became the prominent Soviet writer Konstantin Mikhailovich Simonov. In addition to his frontline essays and poems published in the frontline newspaper, the article also uses recollections of Simonov by the commanding officer of the group of troops, corps commander, and later the victory marshal in the Great Patriotic War, G. K. Zhukov, and the newspaper's editor, brigade commander D. I. Ortenberg.
