The aim of research is to study the possibility of using a single-row suture (RF Patent No. 2190360) developed at the Department of Anatomy, Veterinary Obstetrics and Surgery of the Kuban State Agrarian University in the practice of bowel surgery and in operative obstetrics. An experiment was carried out on the imposition of a single-row suture during enterotomy of the small intestine in dogs. Two groups of animals, 15 dogs each were formed on the principle of analogs. Laparo- and enterotomy was performed according to the generally accepted technique. The wall of the small intestine in animals of the 1st experimental group was sutured in 2 floors: 1st floor – Schmiden suture, 2nd – Lambert suture. Animals of the 2nd experimental group were placed on the wound of the walls of the small intestine of the 1st floor – a single-row suture developed at the department. It was noted that in the second case there was a reduction in the time of the surgical intervention by 15–30 minutes in comparison with the operations in the 1st experimental group. Observations in the postoperative period, including hematological and biochemical stud-ies, did not reveal significant differences in the healing process. An experiment on the use of a single-row suture was also carried out on pregnant bitches with dystocia. Caesarean section was performed according to the generally accepted technique. For the 1st group of animals (15 bitches) continuous sutures were placed on the uterus wound in 2 floors: 1st – according to Schmiden, 2nd – according to Sadovsky-Plakhotin. In group 2 (14 bitches), the edges of the wound were connected with a serous-muscular continuous suture in one row. In the 1st group of animals, postpartum acute purulent-catarrhal inflammation of the uterine mucosa and peritonitis were diagnosed. From the 2nd group, 1 patient was identified (7.1 %). Complex measures in the postoperative period did not lead to a complete restoration of the reproductive qualities of females in the 1st experimental group. Lack of fertility was noted in 2 females (13.3 %) of the 1st group. In the 2nd experimental group, all 14 females became fertile.
Single-row surgical suture, enterotomy, cesarean section, dystocia.
