On the basis of statistical data and results of the sociological research conducted in the Republic of Buryatia in 2013, the main characteristics, reasons and factors, consequences and some ways of prevention of divorces in modern families of the region are provided. The need of further complex and interdepartmental work for preservation of value of family institution in the future is shown.
