To the problem of depopulation in the Russian Far East: family migration

The article is devoted to analysis of the population departure from the Far East. Having analyzed three family stories, the author reveals the reasons and factors of their migration, and also a specificity of family moves. The official reasons for the population outflow in the Khabarovsk Territory - severe natural - climatic conditions, remoteness from Central Russia, have nothing in common with the three considered cases. Their reasons are as follows: professional dissatisfaction, lack of opportunities for cultural development of the family, and the environment which is uncomfortable for their living. The author believes that it is the family problems that must be in the focus of attention, in order to make the Russian Far East attractive for its residents.
