The use of visual media in the course of lectures on the "History of world culture"

The article deals with the interpretation of paintings in the course of lectures on the history of world culture. Using the genre works of the Dutch painters of the 17th century as an example, the author considers the application of various methods: descriptive, iconographical, iconological, and semiotic one, to reveal the peculiarities of the system of cultural values of the Protestant Holland.
