On the problem of Abkhazia independence: from the historical past to the present

The article explores the problem of independence of Abkhazia in the XX-XXI centuries. The causes and prerequisites of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict of 1992-1993 have been revealed; post-war negotiation process has been characterized; the approaches to the problem of Abkhazia independence have been studied; the definition of the transformation process of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict has been given and the tendencies to settling the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict formed after August 2008 in the Abkhazian social and political discourse are considered.
