Grass snake diet in Mordovia nature reserve

The material was collected on June 25-27, 2019 along the shores of the Verkhny pond in the village of Pashta, on the Inorsky and Pavlovsky cordons. 50 individuals of common snake were caught. The nutritional composition was studied by the bloodless method. In 84% of snakes, their stomachs were empty. The remains of one fish (family Cobitidae) and 8 tailless amphibians ( Bufo bufo - 4, Rana sp. - 2, Pelophylax sp. - 2) were extracted from the filled stomachs.
