On the higher agricultural education in the Far East centenary

The paper is devoted to the history of the Far Eastern State Agrarian University. The formation and development of the Far Eastern State Agrarian University is considered in the context of the historical process of agrarian colonization of the Far Eastern outskirts. It is shown that the opening of the Blagoveshchensk Agricultural Institute in 1950, which was transformed into the Far Eastern State Agrarian University in 1993, was preceded by the purposeful activities of both the pre-revolutionary and Soviet progressive public and the state to organize scientific research on the natural and climatic conditions of the Far East, adapt agricultural technologies to these conditions, the dissemination of scientific recommendations on farming in the peasant environment. The first experience of organizing higher education in agricultural specialties occurred in the Far East in the 1920s and early 1930s. The author of the study reveals in detail the main stages in the development of the Far Eastern State Agrarian University and the direction of its activities, the traditions that have been formed over more than 70 years of the history of the university.
