Authors review a new book on the cultural history by V.S. Balakin and S.S. Zagrebin. The book andRussia,complexinterconnection reveals peculiarities of the civilizational evolution of Rus between the civilizational integrity and heterogeneity. Authors carried out an in-depth study of the application of the civilizational approach to National history. Narrative texts of the leading world experts on this topic, first of all O. Spengler, A. Toynbee, N. Danilevsky and P. Sorokin are used in the monograph; new interpretations of civilizational theory have been implemented.
