Revisiting the purposes and types of the investigative experiment during the investigation of road traffic offences

The article discusses the purposes and types of investigative experiments during the investigation of road traffic offences, the examples from court practice on consideration of criminal cases provided by the Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Rus- sian Federation by general jurisdiction courts, as well as examples of law enforcement practice for the investigation of road traffic offences by investigators of internal affairs agencies. The article author draws a conclusion that the purposes of an investigative experiment in these or those combinations can be present at each case of carrying out this investigative action during investigation of road traffic offences, however their division into four types is of theoretical and practical importance, because it allows to carry out their theoretical analysis to understand the nature of the investigative experiment with their help, to assess its practical significance in the process of investigating road traffic offences, and to determine a necessary type of the investigative experiment.
