To the question of Ural urban population number on the basis of All-Union census of 1939

The article is devoted to the critical analyses of urban population number of Perm, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions on the basis of data of All-Union population census of 1939. On the basis of a wide source base the author shows that the census was held in such a way that it excluded misreporting. All the work on development of its results was secure. In June 1939 the official census results were published but they did not coincide with the results introduced for scientific use in 1990s. The article considers the discussion of authenticity of census results of 1939. The author joins those scientists who while admitting the fact of census falsification also consider possible the usage of census results while modifying them. The author made an attempt to correct the number of Ural cities population while using materials of census and modern historical demographic researches.
