On civilization and progressive development of category of space in English and Russian

The process of the category of space formation in the picture of the cross-cultural world and in the linguistic picture of the world of the English and Russian native speakers is considered. The national peculiarities of the comprehension of space as the human environment are described. The possibilities of the category realization in the above-noted languages are analyzed.
