Concerning definition of "extremism" and its content field

The article analyses the content aspects of the 'extremism' concept. The author follows the idea that extremism is one of the most serious problems of the modern society. It is argued that practical counter-extremism activities require legislative formalization of certain forms of social activities as extremist ones. At the same time, there is a risk of overly general definition of extremism, which leads to a series of negative consequences.
