This article is a political-military event reconstruction known in history under the name "Crimean-Ukrainian customs war". After the Peninsula occupation in 1918 by German troops "Ukraine" - a puppet formation created by the German command on occupied Russian territories -also made claims to the Crimea. This caused a sharp protest of Lieutenant-General M.A. Sulkevichin the Crimean Regional Government despite the active mediation of Germany to settle the matter peacefully. It is obvious that in its quest to dismember and destroy Russia German ruling circles, without knowing it, have created a "cave" Ukrainian nationalism which got in the way of actually German plans. It is for this reason that diplomatic and customs war between the Ukrainian and Crimean governments was rather quickly foiled by Germany. The representatives of the latter became annoyed to watch as two temporary formations played the war on the occupied territories of Russia. So on September 22 the Cabinet of Ministers of the Regional government got a notification "about the desirability of immediate departure of the delegation to Kiev to resolve the relationship". The Germans had already pre-agreed with the Ukrainians acting as a natural mediator between two formally independent and conflicting parties. The defeat and surrender of Germany and the subsequent collapse of the "Ukrainian power" soon discovered the solution to the conflict which was more resolved by external circumstances. However, the fact that the so-called "Ukraine" declared Crimea an independent political formation in 1918 is undoubtedly remarkable for the world history.
