On the Issue of Training Teachers for Literacy Schools in the Late 19th — Early 20th Centuries Based on the Example of the Tauria Diocese

Using the specific example of the Taurida Diocese, the article provides an overview of the peculiarities of training pedagogical personnel for elementary church schools of the Russian Empire in the late 19th — early 20th centuries through the establishment of special second-class schools. The organization of the educational process, the daily routine, the main and additional subjects of the training program are considered. The importance of second-class schools in the public education system of the Taurida province as a separate subject of the Russian state is discussed.
