To the question about the understanding of the personal criminal category

The article provides an overview of the main approaches to defining this category in the works of foreign and domestic criminologists. It is concluded that the criminological study of the personality of a criminal makes it possible for science to answer sometimes the most difficult questions, among which, first of all, the question of the formation of criminal behavior and the causes of crime arises. The identity of the offender is studied and analyzed from two perspectives. The first, of which is a complex of social relationships, and the second examines the personality from the point of view of the subject of initiative activity.
