On understanding the modern digital economy

The article analyzes the phenomenon of digital economy. The uncertainty of this concept and the basic concepts of the digital economy in chronological order are also considered. Digitalization of the modern economy is interpreted as a large-scale social process that determines not only economic and technological innovations, but also a new paradigm of development with a complex qualitative transformation of the economy, society and man. The review concludes that the digital economy is personified with any economic activity in which digital technologies are present. It is also noted that the digital economy simplifies communication between people and countries, improves the quality of social services and productivity, creates new opportunities for entrepreneurship and employment, educational process and continuous professional development. It is concluded that there is no common interpretation of the concept of «digital economy» due to the novelty of the term.
