On the issue of import substitution problems in the modern Russian economy

Import substitution is one of the priority areas of development of Russian economy at present. In the article the authors examine significant issues in the import substitution process. The positive and negative aspects of this process are listed. The most import-dependent sectors of the Russian economy have been named. Government measures to support these industries were considered. The problem of uneven consequences of the introduction of sanctions for different regions of Russia is considered. The main obstacles to business have been named. The advisability of diversifying import sources is emphasized.
