On the problem of the role of emotion 'surprise' in cognitive activity of a person (on fiction data)

The article is devoted to the problem of embodiment of various emotions as dominant constituents of man's nature in the text. Theories of emotions are systematized and generalized with the aim to reveal the cognitive basis of study of emotions. In the article the emotion surprise is regarded in the aspect of its role in the cognitive-informational situation, particularly in the process of thinking. The specificity of the emotion surprise is considered and its place in the system of basic emotions is described in the article.
