In the article, in the context of contemporary historiography of Russian economic history, assesses the monograph by English economist David Daiker “Economic Policy Making and Business Culture: Why is Russia So Different?” (London: Imperial College Press, 2011). The monograph is described and evaluated primarily from the perspective of the author’s attempts to explain the characteristics and problems of the Russian economy today, as the result of a unique historical way passed by the country in different periods of its history. This approach allows to predict the potentials and prospects of economic development of Russia in the near future.
