News discourse has hardly been studied in terms of narratology. Nevertheless, it is possible to speak about the stories that form the basis of the news. Quite often, this kind of narration is predictive: the author, trying to attract the recipient's attention, relies on the power of his imagination, and talks about the possible consequences of a particular event, the reasons for which are not yet meaningful and do not interest the reader / listener much, just being keen on the novelty of the received information. This kind of narrative model finds its ultimate embodiment in “threatening” reports, since their immediate goal is to draw a picture of potential changes in reality as a result of some action or incident. The event structure of such messages includes several components: an anticipating (actual) event, at least two of its consequences (negative and positive), as well as various conditions for the implementation of the latter. The listed components (with the exception of the first one) can be implicit or explicit. This structure is traced in the news of any content (sports, political, cultural, etc.), it determines the modality of “threatening” reports (authoritarian conviction or personal opinion), it is used not only to inform about the danger, but also to indicate the possibility to overcome it (the emphasis shifts from the negative consequences to the positive ones). The illustrative material in the article is represented by texts of various Internet publications.
