Concerning theoretical and methodological foundations of the sociological analysis of soccer fan subcultures

The article considers soccer fan subcultures as a controversial socio-cultural community in terms of the basic theoretical and methodological approaches to the analysis of youth culture and its social foundations, place and role in the society (T. Parsons, S. Eisenstadt, A. Schutz, Z. Freud, E. Fromm, E. Durkheim, R. Merton, E.O. Kubyakin, D.S. Raydugin). The author comes to the conclusion that there is a conflict between theories and they can be divided into two groups according to the assumptions about the underlying determinants of the behavior of soccer fans (objective, rational-logical and subjective, irrational, emotional).
