Concerning the time of foundation and the name of Slavyanskaya stanitsa (now the town of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar territory)

The research discusses the time of foundation and the name of Slavyanskaya stanitsa (now the town of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar Territory). The author considers the previous studies of local historians on these issues. Opinions, statements, and assumptions on this topic are analyzed, compared, and critically examined. Based on archives and scientific literature, the weak evidence of previous research theories is demonstrated. The author comes to two conclusions. Firstly, the official date of the town’s foundation can be postponed if the local residents and authorities decide to do it. Secondly, the author suggests that the name of the hussar regiment has been indirectly given to the newly established stanitsa due to the historical circumstances of the development of new territories.
