On the question of the identity of urban public spaces (on the example of improvement of embankments in the city of Stary Oskol, Belgorod region, and in the city of Pavlovsk, Voronezh region, the project "City meadows" in Belgorod)

The author focuses on public urban spaces as one of the foundations of the quality of the urban environment. Of particular interest is the role of identity in the creation or transformation of public spaces and, in particular, the facet of identity that makes them recognizable and unique. The transition of the concept of identity from the context of the humanities to architecture is noted, aspects of this phenomenon are considered within the framework of the improvement of urban space. The author relies on the experience of preserving the identity of public spaces by creating a recognizable image with a regional component.
