The article explores regulations of the Article 6.1 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation and substantiates the necessity of defining the starting point for calculation of the reasonable period of criminal proceedings from the moment of reported offence, or in the case of imposition of arrest on property - from the moment of signing the protocol.
