Revising the effectiveness of prenatal smoking cessation program

The article presents some results of the prenatal smoking cessation program among pregnant women with nicotine dependence in Slobozia. Material and methods. The study of the dynamics of nicotine addiction was conveyed with 110 pregnant women aged 18 to 41 years. With the usage of the carbon monoxide detector PiCOSimple Smokerlyzer the concentration of carboxyhemoglobin (COHb, ppm) in the blood of women and their partners was measured. Results. The unfavorable social situation of the majority of women who smoke and refused from smoking in the first trimester is found out. The average length of the bad habit for pregnant women amounted to 10,37±1,18 years, and under the influence of consulting women decreased the average number of cigarettes smoked and delayed the time of starting smoking in the morning. Smoking cessation of pregnant women with 8,21±1,03 years experience took about 8 weeks. Conclusion. Consulting on methods of reducing the number of cigarettes and frequency of smoking leads to reduction of prenatal exposure of smoking.
