Concerning the ethno-social structure of Chechnya in the XVIII-XIX centuries (according to ethnonymics and folklore of Chechens)

The article considers the problem of ethno-social structure of Chechnya in the XVIII-XIX centuries on the basis of data of ethnonymics and folklore of Chechens. By studying the historical sources, ethnographic evidence, folklore, and Chechen language, the author attempts to define and make a model of the ethno-social structure of Chechen society of the period. It is concluded that in the XVIII-XIX centuries the Chechen society was not socially homogeneous, and its main form of social organization - the teip - was formed according to the economic and professional activity, class-caste nature, or foreign origin.
