The article deals with the definition of the civilizational identity features of Russia and prospects of its strengthening. According to the author’s opinion, there are real prerequisites for the development of Russia as an independent civilization, but this possibility may be implemented only with a joint concernment of the society and its elite, supported by cultural and political choice of the ruling stratum.
