Concerning the murder of the Russian consul G. S Shcherbina in Mitrovica (case study of Turkish archival records)

The article presents the biographical information about the Russian consul G.S. Shcherbina and his diplomatic mission in the Macedonian vilayet of the Ottoman Empire. The author considers the reasons of persecution and the main motives that caused the murder of the consul. It is noted that G.S. Shcherbina took all the measures to pacify the region and protect the Christian population. The paper identifies the preconditions of aggravation of the situation in the region and discusses the measures taken by the Turkish government to ensure the security of the Russian consul.
