The article deals with the problems of crossborder areas of the SouthEastern Province of China and the SouthWest of the Primorsky Territory from the standpoint of sustainability. The natural and tourist resources of the bordering provinces of China and Russia, infrastructure development of the two countries are considered. The main problem of the unstable, uneven development of tourism of such destinations the authors consider the disproportionate placement of transport and hotel infrastructures, tight border control, poor improvement of border checkpoints. Considering tourism as one of the fastest growing industries in the modern world, the authors predict an increase in tourist flows precisely in the border areas. This will increase the global economic growth of tourist countries leading tourism industry. As a branch of the economy, tourism can have opposite environmental consequences, which depend on the choice of development path. Destruction can be caused by unregulated tourist activities, infrastructure construction, and a decrease in recreational potential. Renewal is determined by such environmental management, which leads to an increase in recreational value, aimed at minimizing the recreational load, landscaping, redistribution of tourist flows, conservation of natural objects, which makes environmental management models sustainable and constructive. The analysis of the tourist flows of the neighboring regions of China and Russia carried out by the authors shows a tendency towards a mutual increase in the number of visits by Chinese tourists to Russia and the counter tourist flow from Russia to China. The findings are confirmed by an analysis of the infrastructure and the flow of tourists to bordering destinations.
