On the issue of improving social hygienic monitoring in the Russian Arctic

During the period of functioning of the social hygienic monitoring (SGM), the main stages of the formation of indicators characterizing the sanitary-epidemiological situation have been worked out, information on the state of public health and the environment has been collected. Currently, there is a need for modernization and development of SGM, a change in methodological approaches to collecting information and assessing the quality of the environment and public health. There are certain difficulties during the conduct of the SGM in the Russian Arctic: the search for indicators that are adequate to the goals and objectives of monitoring and testify to the influence of environmental factors on the health of the population. Methodological approaches to the selection of control points and the formation of laboratory research programs for environmental objects have not been sufficiently developed. The possibilities of exchanging information on natural-climatic and environmental-hygienic factors are limited due to the difficulties of interagency cooperation. The article suggests possible ways to increase the effectiveness of the SGM in the territory of the Russian Arctic.
