The author points out the relevance of methodological development of the “quality”, “quantity” and “measure” notions. Weak points of production are associated with poor theoreti-cal development of the holistic quality assurance concept and lack of complex standardization. The definition of product quality in the official documents as the combination of product proper-ties should be substantially changed. The author suggests accounting for the subject of labour theory. The notions of “quality”, “quantity” and “measure” are classified according to a number of principles; such a variety of approached can be regarded as a methodological reference point for researchers. The quality of a product is considered as a derivative of heterogeneity and chan-geability of its properties that can be revealed and measured on the stages of production, opera-tion and disposal. The quality of a product can be measured using the ratio between the assets of a product (its wanted properties) and detrimental or unwanted properties that can transform into detrimental. The author describes ways of researching the product quality phenomenon in the context of the subject of labour theory.
