Until the beginning of the XVII century. relations between the Dzungars and Kalmyks, on the one hand, and the Kazakhs, on the other, were good neighborly and peaceful. The purpose of mutual raids was not to expand the territory of their nomads, but only the desire to profit from cattle, property, prisoners. At the turn of the XVI-XVII century part of the Oirat tribes was even subordinate to the Kazakh khans, and the "price of the issue" was not so fundamental. The situation changed dramatically with the formation of the Dzungar Khanate, the predatory interests of the rulers of which began to increase extremely for objective reasons: nomadic cattle breeding constantly demanded more and more new areas, and the development of economic relations - constant exits to shopping centers. This explains the desire of the Dzungars to expel the Kazakhs from their lands, which were of strategic interest to both peoples. Under Juntaishi Batur, the contradictions between the Dzungars and the Kazakhs grew into continuous wars. Erdeni Batyr made several aggressive campaigns against the Kazakhs. After his death, feudal strife began in the Dzungar Khanate, and hostilities ceased for some time, but when Khan Galdan Boshoktu came to power the confrontation escalated again and at Seban Rabtan escalated into a series of bloody clashes. These were already organized, planned largescale military operations, which entailed a number of important political consequences for both sides of the conflict and in a certain way changed the history of these peoples. The objectives of the study were the systematization and generalization of historical facts concerning the causes of the Kalmyk-Dzhungar aggression against the Kazakh khanates, the strategy and tactics of military operations. As a result of research, the reasons for the aggression of the Dzungars against the Kazakh Juzes were identified, the course of hostilities during the Kazakh-Dzungarian wars was considered, and their consequences were assessed. The study was carried out using both general scientific methods (systemic, diachronic) and historical methods (narrative, chronological).
