The article analyses main strategies of manipulating category of the Future used in modern newspapers for translating of political myth. In this regard, the author examines the two faces of modern political myth - «patriotic» and «liberal», as well as linguistic mechanisms used to manipulate readers` consciousness. Norman Fairclough explores the tensions between information and estimation in media. In case of manipulation the estimation dominates over information. Method of critical discourse analysis allows to distinguish informative and verbal parts of message and to show authors interest in elucidation of political events. Analysis of materials devoted to Ukrainian conflict in newspapers «Kommersant», «Izvestia» and «Novaja gazeta» illustrates general items of the article.
