The article investigates the philosophical context of the category "activity" in the conditions of the formation of the post-information society. The post-information society is considered as a modern stage in the development of global society. Various semantic interpretations of activity are noted in the article. The author provides a definition of the postinformation society based on an analysis of existing interpretations. The process of activity reflects the way of human existence, methods of self-realization, and self-fulfillment. It is emphasized that activity is a specifically human form of activity since no living creature transforms the surrounding reality according to its own motives and beliefs during its activity. The author presents various historical-philosophical interpretations of the category of activity, including both materialistic and idealistic approaches, taking into account modern trends in societal development. Special attention in the article is given to the analysis of the materialistic approach to the category of activity, where one of the bases is the philosophy of K. Marx and F. Engels. The article also focuses on the domestic interpretations of the category of activity, particularly the views of Soviet philosophers. Activity in these interpretations is considered from the standpoint of systemic methodology. It should be noted that the activity approach in the conditions of the formation of the post-information society has significant scientific value since studying human activity, its nature, motives, goals, and results allows us to speak about the current state of society and its development prospects.
