During the construction of the Chinese Eastern Railway, as well as during its operation, different categories of the population of the Russian Empire worked on Manchu lands. Among them were the Poles, who constituted the majority of the Catholic flock of Northeast China. Until the 1950s Polish Catholics lived in settlements along the Chinese Eastern Railway. Until 1956, the only priests remaining in Manchuria served in Harbin. Returning to their homeland, the Poles began to publish works on life in China. Polish historiography began to take shape. In Russia, the topic of emigration in Manchuria began to be actively studied only in the 1990s. Russian and Polish studies developed independently of each other. This study is an attempt to acquaint the Russian scientific community with the achievements of Polish colleagues.
