The main topic of this article is the Easter controversy, which worried the Celtic Church in the 7th century. Afer briefly summarizing the biography of St. Patrick of Ireland and describing the two Christian missions in Ireland and England, the author examines the events that led to the emergence of the Easter controversy, as well as their consequences, which ultimately led to the disappearance of the Celtic Church and original Celtic Christianity. Te article atempts to show the Easter controversy as a struggle of the Celts for the legacy of St. Patrick, the Apostle of Ireland and the founder of the Celtic Church. Te author shows Rome’s uncompromising position, emphasizing that although the dispute was outwardly focused on the date of the Feast of Pascha and the form of the tonsure, in fact it was a dispute about the subordination of the Celts to Rome and the evaluation of Celtic Christianity in general. Rejecting the authority of the Celtic Fathers in the dispute, the Roman clergy thus rejected the entire Celtic tradition as having no value
