The Cyprus problem in the context of implementation of the EU strategy on the settlement of ethnic and religious conflicts

The article provides an overview of the key events in the political life of the island of Cyprus, which are discussed in the framework of the conflict division into the three main phases. The undertaken study allows the authors to conclude that the lingering economic crisis in the south of the euro zone and the people’s fatigue from years of strife have led the representatives of the two communities to understanding of the need for unassisted decision of the sore subjects. Perhaps, it is the position of personal responsibility that can help to obtain more significant results in the achievement of the main goal, which is the unification of the parties and the creation of favorable conditions for their collaboration.
