Intestinal toxicosis in young children

Intestinal toxicosis is one of the most frequent variants of toxicosis developing in young children (especially the 1st year of life) with acute intestinal infections. It occurs as a result of the primary response to an infectious agent and due to significant losses of water and electrolytes with vomiting and loose stools. These losses aggravate peripheral circulatory disorders and lead to progressive neurological disorders. Of great importance for the development of intestinal toxicosis are congenital metabolic diseases, hereditary and acquired immunodeficiency and related sensitization as a result of repeated infectious diseases, chronic eating disorders, feeding defects.
