The article explains that China is a major country in the developing world. Even in the 21st century, observers of international relations remained unsure of how important China would be in the future, given the US emphasis on unipolarity. But this is no longer the case. China’s rise as a great power in the international system began with economic reforms launched in 1978 aimed at modernizing the country. Implementing a strategy of rapid economic modernization requires China to integrate into the framework of the international economic system cre-ated by the United States. By adapting to the universal norms of Western capitalist exchange principles and joining key institutions of the world economic order, such as the World Trade Organization, China’s strategy over the past four decades has significantly strengthened its position in the international political system through its acquired economic power. Today, the familiar slogan “Made in China” is widely accepted by virtually all consumers, indicating China’s growing presence in the world.
