Panda diplomacy has been a popular diplomatic technique since the foundation of the PRC. It is regarded as a pivotal tool for the development of Chinese public diplomacy. Since the introduction of the reform and opening-up policy, this resource has undergone several changes, but it still attracts the attention of the world community. In the new era, Beijing continues to implement panda diplomacy as it promotes a peaceful state image and is a form of soft power. Despite the fact that this diplomatic leverage has considerably affected the creation of China’s positive image in the global arena, this technique is overlooked. The study discusses the historical backgrounds to panda diplomacy and focuses on its positive effects. In conclusion, it is proposed to use the giant panda culture to improve and update China’s national image in the future.
