The author argues that one of the dominant features of the traditional Chinese culture is lunar calendar, which is inextricably linked with the everyday life of ordinary Chinese. The article studies the specifics and cultural value of the Chinese New Year. It is concluded that the socio-cultural meaning of this traditional holiday is that it is a day of reunification of families and the entire nation.
