Clinical diagnostics of cholestatic hepatosis in pregnant women

The number of pregnant women with cholestatic hepatosis (CH) is constantly increasing; therefore, new diagnostic solutions are needed. Objective: to identify the main clinical and diagnostic signs of CH in pregnant women, including those who underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF). Material and methods. The study included 211 consecutive pregnant women with a mean age of 29.9 ± 5.9 years. The experimental group comprised 144 (68%) patients with CH (including 25 participants (17.4%) after IVF), whereas the control group included 67 (32%) patients without CH. All women underwent standard clinical and diagnostic examination. Results. Patients with CH developed skin rash with subsequent acid reflux earlier than patients without CH. Jaundice was observed in 6.2% of women with CH.
