Clinical application of photodynamic therapy for treating peritonitis

The given work makes the comparative assessment of the effectiveness of combined treatment in patients with peritonitis. The researchers applied intraoperative sanation of the abdominal cavity, photodynamic therapy (PDT), postoperative intravenous laser blood irradiation with low laser energy ( ILBI-LLLI) and traditional techniques. 123 patients were included into the study. They were divided into two groups – main (n-48) and control (n-75). PDT was done with LED medical device LANTUS-T «Maska». Exposure time: 100-120sec per each zone; continuous mode, output power 0.2Wt (energy density 20- 25 J/cm 2). ILBI was done with laser device «Mulat» (λ=0.63 nm), irradiation power 5 mWt (daily, for 7-10 days), exposure time 20 min. The developed technique of potentiating traditional schemes of peritonitis treatment with laser technologies during surgery and after it has allowed to achieve a precise eradication (PDT) of the lesion during the surgery and polyvalent positive effect (ILBI - LLLI) after the surgery. At the same time there were no any pharmacological loadings at patients. One could see an early resorption of endogentic intoxication. Thus, the developed technique has decrease the mortality index from 22.5 % till 12.5 %.
