In the presented article the clinic and the basic psychodynamic mechanisms of the eating disorders in the form of anorexia nervosa and bulimia are described and analyzed. The analysis of the development of eating disorders revealed significance of symptom of loss of control as a crescent point of addictive process. The appearance of loss of control both in cases of anorexia nervosa and bulimia results in malevolent dynamic with the consequence of involvement of psychotic level of mental reaction, Authors emphasize the necessity of careful differential diagnose between mental disorders typical for anorexic patients in form of splitting of personality with appearance of two or three personality structures and auditory hallucinations and diagnosis of schizophrenia. The role of narcissistic motivation in dynamic of overwhelming of symptoms of physiological hunger in metaphorical context of «victory of spirit above body» in development of threatening for the survival starvation is analyzed. It was shown that deficit of mutual informal emotional contact between parents and their child participates as the main factor that predisposes teenagers to development of eating disorders. Complex impact of mass media, increased rate of changes, and «no time» phenomenon form the benevolent condition for wide spread of eating disorders in postmodern society.
