The research objective was studying morphological and biochemical parameters of the blood at acute gastroenteritis in dogs. According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 20 dogs with acute gastroenteritis were selected, which underwent detailed clinical and hematological examination. Fifteen clinically healthy dogs were used as a comparison group. From each patient and a healthy dog about 1 ml of blood was taken to the test tubes containing disodium salt of ethylene diamint of tetraacetic acid for subsequent determination of morphological parameters of blood. Also 3-4 ml of venous blood of each patient was put into dry test tubes with the fibrillation activator for definition of serumal biochemical indicators. The concentration of hemoglobin, hematocrit, the quantity of erythrocytes and leukocytes and their subpopulation structure were determined by the standard methods of hematologic research. Biochemical parameters of serum of blood were studied using standard sets of instruments for diagnosis. The activity of alanine aminotransferase, aspartataminotransferase and the concentration of glucose, general protein, albumine, urea, creatinine, sodium, potassium and chlorides were examined according to conventional techniques. In sick dogs anorexia, diarrhea, depression, vomiting, dehydration and intoxication syndromes of varying severity and tachycardia were diagnosed. Pronounced changes regarding hematocrit, neutrophil count, lymphocyte count and average hemoglobin concentration in the erythrocyte were revealed. Biochemicalstudies revealed a significant decrease in serum concentrations of glucose, total protein and albumin and albumin-globulin ratio. In blood serum at sick dogs concentration of potassium and chlorides authentically decreased. A slight increase in alanine aminotransferase activity and serum urea concentration was also observed.
