The article analyzes the key trends in the socio-political development of the Italian Republic in the context of significant demographic and economic problems that act as a catalyst for political changes in the state. The author attempts to predict institutional changes, political and party transformations in the country, taking into account the challenges that it will face in the near future. Particular attention is paid to possible scenarios of Russian behavior when building cooperation with internal political actors of the Italian Republic in the framework of the perception of the Russian Federation in the public consciousness of Italians, depending on the political party spectrum they represent. The author concludes that the demographic decline and structural changes in the age composition of the population in Italy will inevitably lead to the inability of state authorities to fulfill their social obligations. In these conditions, the reforms declared by the EU to expand supranational powers and reduce the functionality of national governments of member countries will lead to even greater challenges in the economy, which sooner or later will begin to create a demand for political parties and movements advocating a reduction in EU intervention, and in the long term - the complete withdrawal of Italy from the European Union. Supporters of Euroscepticism in Italy, usually, positively perceive both the policies of the current government in Russia and the Russian Federation as a potential partner. Concentrated and targeted work with conservative and right-wing parties in this country can lead to tangible political results not only at the level of the Italian Republic, but also the EU as a whole, considering the critical importance of this state for European integration projects.
